Condé Nast first British magazine publisher to deliver cookery content exclusively on YouTube
9th August 2007, London; CondéNet UK, the new media division of Condé Nast Publications is delighted to announce the launch of an EASY LIVING channel (www.youtube.com/easyliving) on YouTube, from the 14th August 2007.
The EASY LIVING channel will launch a range of short cookery videos fronted by David Herbert, EASY LIVING magazine’s Food Editor, all of which are easy-to-follow demonstrations guiding the viewer through the creation of simple and delicious dishes including no-stir risotto and easy foccacia - perfect to download onto your mobile for use on kitchen work surface.
This development follows the highly successful launch of VOGUE (www.youtube.com/vogue), GLAMOUR (www.youtube.com/glamour), GQ (www.youtube.com/gqmagazine) and more recently BRIDES (www.youtube.com/brides) channels on YouTube. Since going live in mid-June, VOGUE has received over 230,000 video views, and GLAMOUR just over 194,000 to date, with an astoundingly high 73% click though rate from the channel banner to the website. CONDÉ NAST BRIDES, a more recent addition, is already rating highly, and alongside its professional guides (‘How to Achieve the Perfect Wedding Hair’ for example), readers are being invited to enter their own videos for vetted inclusion on the channel.
Abigail Chisman, General Manager for CondéNet UK, comments “Hot on the heels of our highly successful debut on the YouTube site with three of our brands, we are keen to capitalize on this premier destination for online video as a platform for our other brands, continuing to deliver the highest quality content in a relevant and timely manner, reaching out to an even wider potential audience.”
Josa Young, Executive Editor, adds, “It’s fun for magazine readers to see their favourite food editors demonstrating online. The convenience of following the recipe on your video phone at your own speed seems to us an obvious draw for cooks keen to learn new techniques from a master.”
Looking ahead, the EASY LIVING channel will continue to grow its cookery content, including videos on the various techniques employed when cooking, in addition to further quick, easy and inspiring modern recipes, and this will be joined by fashion and beauty videos later in the year.
